Plaid Sam Pic Spam Season One: The Early Years

This picspam is for my mom who loves the way Sam dresses. She especially loves the plaid! In fact, when I told her about the picspam I was making in her honor she said excitedly: “Rock Hudson always looked good in plaid”! To which I replied: “You realize what you just said? Are you insinuating Jared is gay?” Okay, I think she was trying to compare him to a sex symbol from her teen years (then she mentioned John Derek and I told her to quit while she was ahead)! We had a good laugh on that. 

I have to say that in the Northeast I have never seen anyone dressed like Sam. In fact, I’m not exactly sure where you’d find that type of clothing. Maybe Sears? However, Sam (and Jared) manage to make plaid attractive and at times sexy.

So here’s my picspam dedicated to Sam in plaid from season one to season four.

Typical season one Sam was in a polo or tee. Here in the long sleeved polo (complete with small bitchface): 

Plaid makes its first appearance early on in episode two: “Wendigo”, but since this was just after the fire, I wonder, was this shirt Dean’s?   The brown hoodie was ever present and seemed to be his primary jacket. In Wendigo we get the double treat of the hoodie combined with red plaid, a color Sam never seems fond of. I wonder why? LOL!

Looks like Dean took Sammy shopping prior to Dead in the Water. Sam now is sporting a blue plaid shirt. Two for one special?

The next minor plaid encounter is seven episodes later in “Asylum”. 

Sam is wearing red plaid when he and Dean encounter the Rawhead in “Faith”. I think this is the first instance of clothing repetition as I think this is the same as the shirt in “Wendigo”. 

Sam’s busy trying to solve the case of the racist truck here in “Route 666” to worry much about the Kmart plaid and jacket (jacket number 3 of season one). How does a poor guy afford to own three jackets?

“Bikini Inspector Sam” wears a plaid dressy shirt during “Something Wicked”. Sorry, but how could anyone believe that boyish face was a doctor?

Hey! How’d that get in there? Oh, yeh, Sam dresses in a plaid shirt in this scene. That’s why….. : D

Best Use of Plaid in a Series? “Hell House” and the prank war between the brothers!!!

“You didn’t?”

“I did !!!” LOL Also, honorable mention for best “SamHair” in a complete episode. The humidity was on his side that day.

Sam wears plaid in “Provenance” and Sarah Blake doesn’t seem to mind. 

She’s pretty keen on Sam even though at first he presents himself as the shy geek, but we really know he was still mourning Jessica and learning to let go.

Just call her already!

Plaid continues to be the choice of shirt for Sam Winchester as season one comes to a close. Is this the same shirt from “Provenance” 

or from “Route 666”?

Season one gave us approximately 9 instances of Sam in plaid (that’s about 41% for you math geeks out there). Plaid began to happen mainly after the mid-season. The next seasons would see an increase in the plaid fashion style and a decrease in Sam as the college preppie (not that he really was, was he) as he takes on the role of hunter and leaves normal behind.
